His prediction was that the northern lights would appear around 3am. But Lady Luck was with us and it appeared in full glory at 9am, dancing for an hour. “Having been on another Northern lights tour the night before, this one felt a little more rough and ready and less polished. However, my daughter and I actually liked that. Alan was eager to get to the perfect spot to observe the lights so didn’t take time for toilet breaks or lengthy speeches. It was very cold so when Alan told us we shouldn’t expect any activity for 70 minutes we went back to the minibus but he raced back to us when the lights unexpectedly came out, making sure we didn’t miss a second.
